Northern Lights Pizza

The menu is built on its hand-tossed TastyCrust, with crust flavors like asiago, sesame, Cajun, garlic butter, and Parmesan, plus garlic butter breadsticks, cavatelli, and thin, deep dish, gluten-free, and cauliflower crusts. It delivers in Grimes; order online or in its app.

Tip: no weekday lunch here, since doors open at 4 p.m. Monday to Thursday. Its specials page lists two medium pizzas for $11.99 each at its traditional stores and notes that online deals vary by location, so check the Deals tab when you order.

Papa Johns

Godfather's Pizza

200 SE Gateway Dr, Suite 111, (515) 986-2228. A company-owned store, per Godfather's own site. We could not find posted hours for the Grimes store, so call ahead.

Orlondo's Pizza

1601 NE 12th St, Suite 140, (515) 537-2533. A newer name on the Chamber directory, in the same building as The Outside Scoop. Its Chamber listing promises thin-crust pizzas, Italian sandwiches, cavatelli, and its salad dressings. Its website still showed an under-construction page when we checked in October, so call to confirm hours before you go.

Where can I sit down for pizza in Grimes?

Destination Grille (2491 E 1st St, 515-355-1153) is the sit-down option. Pizza shares a menu with steak, seafood, burgers, and pasta, and the restaurant says the menu is extensively gluten-free with zero gluten in its fryers. Hours are 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday to Saturday and 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday, and it takes reservations by phone or OpenTable. A good call when the table cannot agree on pizza alone.
